In memory of my late mother:
Robin Sharlene Williams-Gardner was born March 21, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois as the oldest of a combined family of four children. Having pursued studies in both Pharmacy and Business Administration at South Suburban College, she accepted a position with the University of Chicago, where she served on their staff of Pharmacy Technicians for over twenty-four years.
Robin gave birth to and raised two talented sons, Randy, a creative industrial design specialist and art educator, and Michael, a military chef, specializing in international cuisine. In September of 2006, Robin married her partner-in-life David Gardner, Jr., and together they found a community of love and sharing within the Third Baptist Church of Chicago, IL.
Robin was an active and reflective woman of many dimensions: She completed formal training at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago and later operated her own catering service, delighting her easily-garnered customers, and turning family holiday gatherings into sumptuous feasts. She took gardening to new heights as she tended to her leafy vegetables as passionately as her delicate roses. She was a graduate of specialty courses at Defense Training International of Colorado. She lovingly nurtured two little Shih Tzu’s, Gizmo and Kamui, that followed her everywhere.
